Electives

Each degree program requires 6 credit hours of electives. Electives offer students the opportunity to investigate additional topics of interest or to expand the focus of their core curriculum.

Students may choose from the electives listed or from any same-level degree program. For example, if you are enrolled in a bachelor’s level program you may choose any course from any bachelor’s program as an elective. Bachelor level course numbers are preceded with “B.” Master level course numbers are preceded with “M,” and Ph.D. course numbers are preceded with “D.”

EC401 • MANDALA: ART AND SPIRITUALITY
Explores the ancient philosophy and the modern use of the mandala, including its specific uses for self-healing.
6 Credit Hours.

EC402 • FENG SHUI
Investigates the ancient philosophy and modern use of feng shui as the use of energy flow in design.
6 Credit Hours.

EC403 • WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUES
Focuses on the shift from the more masculine approach to health, the external, to a more feminine approach, the internal system of guidance, as it is related to specific health issues and treatment alternatives.
6 Credit Hours.

EC404 • DIVINATION TOOLS
Introduction to the tools of divination, the I-Ching, Tarot, Runes, and Pendulum, as ancient methods of accessing the self and its wisdom.
6 Credit Hours.

EC405 • LABYRINTHS
An in-depth study of the ancient Labyrinth, its history, and its healing powers.
6 Credit Hours.

EC406 • NATIVE AMERICAN HERBAL SECRETS
Presents concepts and dispels misconceptions about Native American lifestyles, focusing on the thoughts and philosophies behind Indian life, medicine, and healing. This includes food, indigenous herbs, humor, and a positive mental state.
6 Credit Hours.

EC407 • A GUIDE TO WRITING
Focuses on expository writing, the kind of writing essential to college course work and most professional fields.
6 Credit Hours.

EC408 • A COURSE IN MIRACLES
Study the book and learn its specific tenets regarding life, love, and the awareness of happiness.
6 Credit Hours.

EC409 • HOLISTIC MARRIAGE THERAPY
Identifies concepts of the conscious versus “unconscious” marriage and offers interventions to assist the couple in healing their relationship.
6 Credit Hours.

EC410 • BUDDHISM
A study of the origins, development, doctrine, and philosophy of Buddhism.
6 Credit Hours.

EC411 • ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDERS
Focuses on the studies by Hallowell and Ratey regarding the symptoms, effects, and coping strategies for ADHD.
6 Credit Hours.
