Waking to Dream

Freda Chaney is one of those nurturing souls who wants everyone to feel at ease. Whether she’s finessing a naturally-healthy omelet or swirling honey into an apple crisp, her guests at The Chaney Manor Bed and Breakfast seem to enjoy Freda’s cheerful “kitchen songs” as much as the gourmet treats she prepares.

Chaney is also an award-winning poet and environmental writer who will soon complete her D.D. studies. Through the AIHT curriculum she’s thankful to have gained life-changing wisdom—or “sweet insight” as she says—from Bruce Schneider’s first book, Relax,You’re Already Perfect.

“Not only did the author’s explanations of lucid dreaming and journaling help me guide my family to a sweet solution for a sticky problem, and in perfect timing,” she adds with a grin, “his words on dream interpretation, signs, and symbols have given me the confidence and peaceful clarity to receive other illuminating messages as well.”

 
Freda’s stories have been featured in Angels on Earth and Guideposts for Kids magazines. She is author of House Blessings: A Book About Cottage Living, and has won awards for her poetry. Freda also serves as a Guideposts prayer volunteer on www.OurPrayer.org  

Schneider’s book describes lucid dreaming as a state of mind in which unconscious ideas and conscious clarity connect, bringing awareness of and an open channel to the realm of spirit. Planting and affirming the suggestion to receive a lucid dream, our subconscious mind can now feel free to create one!

From her AIHT assignment story, “Waking to Dream,” here is the sweet revelation that Chaney received.

“My daughter, Vicki, opened a sweet shop, selling homemade muffins, cookies, and other delicacies. When she told me her store’s new phone number spelled BUNS in place of the last four digits to make the shop number memorable, I was concerned that the modern interpretation of “buns” might work against her—that her entrepreneurial zeal could be dragged down by crank calls and comments. So I prayed for her company’s success, and also asked for higher clarity in my own thinking.

That night I slept soundly. In the morning I awoke to a voice, so loud and clear that I had to look around, wondering who and where it was. ‘Incredibun’ was all I could hear.”

Freda wondered what an Incredibun could be, and in her mind she envisioned a huge homemade pastry bun—-big as a dinner plate! She could almost smell the aromas of cinnamon and honey. This “Incredibun” would place the focus of the business on a larger-than-life bun which could be obtained by calling the phone number ending in BUNS. Perfect!

 
   

The family knows this overnight success is far from a half-baked fad. “In certain circles we’ve called it ‘The God Bun’,” adds Freda’s husband, Norman. No doubt, their special delivery is heaven-sent!
