Virginia Beach Conference:
A Synergistic Experience
by Sue Smith
As the alumni and the students of AIHT gathered in Virginia Beach, they were greeted by gentle breezes and mesmerizing waves lapping on the Atlantic shores. Even the playful dolphins did their part in entertaining and welcoming the explorers of the second annual AIHT Conference.
There was a feeling of being home and that this was a safe
place where one could be herself or himself; where one could say how he felt
or share a hope or dream with no need for an explanation. The others understood
and were looking for the same. There was overall acceptance of being fluid in
the moment.
Healing was taking place on an extraordinary level. The connection people felt and shared was refreshing and stimulating. Participants became part of the process and found themselves surrendering and growing.
I have attended many conferences in my life and this was truly the most powerful. For my fellow attendees this will be reminiscing. For those of you who were unable to attend, this is an encouragement to share the joy in 2001.
Virginia Beach was the perfect atmosphere to explore personal growth and spirituality. As we started to gather and share, it became clear that this was no ordinary affair, but a synergistic experience. There are no coincidences and everyone who attended knew they were in the right place at the right time.
The anticipation began to build as we were able to get in touch with our inner selves during the Sweat Lodge, drumming experience and the dances for peace. It was hard to sleep that night with anticipation of the next days events.
A walk through the labyrinth at ARE and a presentation by Irene Spears was inspirational. Sally Perry, our Indian Shaman, offered inspirational tools for self healing through forgiveness. Dr. Josephine Johnsey enticed us with facts about plants and their effect on our health.
Joan Scott Lowe presented on Homeopathic Body/Mind Therapy for ADD and developing a holistic practice. Sr. Fran Ward inspired all with her Sharing and Caring workshop.
Dr. Anil Behal shared his psychodynamic of the work place and many were so intrigued that they wanted to expand this topic for next year. Dr. Dona Matera took us into a dream state and led us on a journey of healing. Dr Sue Smith offered tools that could be used to refocus, stop the stress process, and begin relaxation.
Psychic readings, healings and massage all added to the atmosphere of self appreciation. The attendees were the best gifts. People from all walks of life, the government, corporate America and many others came seeking an alternative way to enhance their life.
Many people shared that they wanted to connect with other students to see why they choose the same school and how they planed to use their new knowledge. There was a lot of networking and many shared their hopes, dreams and aspirations. I was overwhelmed with feelings and connection during this day of the gathering and can hardly contain my excitement and enthusiasm for the 2001 adventure.
